Let's start by seniority - with the “oldest” mobile operator, which remembers the times when the Nokia 3310 was sold in showrooms.

The day before yesterday, one person said that he was going to go on vacation to Turkey and was interested in SMS roaming. He has both MTS and Velcom, and he wanted to find out from me where using SMS roaming would cost him less.

A little from my experience.

1. Ukraine. About five years ago I bought a prepaid SIM card Kyivstar, I still use it. I chose it for good coverage in the Carpathians and Crimea. Sold on every corner, no passport required when purchasing. Valid for one year from the date of the last outgoing call or SMS. It is also possible to make inexpensive calls to Belarus using a special code, similar to IP telephony.

2. Russia. With Russia it is more complicated - it is all divided into regions and a SIM card purchased in one region is not profitable to use in others. In addition, the validity period of SIM cards for all operators that I saw is six months. When traveling to Russia, I subscribed to the MTS Guest tariff (now the analogue is called “Your Country”) for inexpensive calls to Belarus. This mobile operator offers a lot of different commands that allow you to receive this or that information about the SIM card, as well as enable/disable certain functions. In general, USSD requests on Velcom are available in huge quantities. But we will consider only the most useful and popular of them. Maybe they will help you solve this or that problem more than once.

What it is

But first, let’s find out what our current needs are? Knowing this, you can understand whether you need them or not. Maybe you can do without them completely? USSD requests from Velcom, like any cellular operator, are nothing more than a means of subscriber self-service.

With their help, you can control your phone balance, check and change the tariff plan on your SIM card, perform various functions, as well as disable and activate certain services and options. The main advantage of such combinations is that they are free and can be activated at any time of the day or night. The main thing is to know what exactly you need.

Balance

Perhaps it’s worth starting with the main function - this is a USSD balance request and all the commands that will help you control the funds in your SIM card account. There are not so many of them, but there are some special ones among them.

For example, a balance request is made using the combination *100#. At the end of each dial, you need to click on the “Call” button. In response, you receive a message about the status of your SIM card account, and the result is displayed directly on the screen.

USSD requests from Velcom allow you to easily change the tariff payment system. To work without prepayment, you need to dial *145#. If you want to register some unconfirmed request, then *141*1# will help here. Basically, these are all useful commands for managing your account. We continue to study Velcom USSD requests further.

Rates

It's no secret that using these commands, any subscriber can change their tariff plan. Each offer has its own combination. You can find out complete information about this on the operator’s official website. After all, Velcom has many tariffs. It would take a very long time to list all the USSD commands for connecting them. So please check with your operator at this time.

Instead, we will try to learn universal USSD requests from Velcom. The tariff plan that you are currently connected to can be found out using *141*2*1#. In addition, the subscriber can receive his phone number by dialing *147#. Information about the Internet tariff plan is displayed after dialing *141*2*3*1#. Everything is easy and simple. In some cases, you receive an SMS message with all the information you requested, but often the data is displayed directly on the phone display.

Additional services

Now a little about the interesting capabilities of our today's operator. Velcom also has its own USSD requests for them. “Favorite number”, for example, is added using *141*3*3#. After this, you can add this or that subscriber to the appropriate list.

Additionally, note that you can also enable some interesting and useful features using our commands today. For example, you can connect the Internet, MMS, and security to your phone with one single request. With its help, you will also receive all the information about the mobile Internet that is available on the SIM card. To do this, dial *135# on your mobile phone and send a request for processing.

Sometimes you want to talk while roaming. Velcom USSD requests allow all subscribers to quickly connect to similar services. "Roaming" (international) is activated using *141*3*2*1#, and "International calls" can be activated by dialing *141*3*1*1#. It turns out that without outside interference, at any time, everyone is able to activate the services of profitable calls on a mobile phone abroad.

Services

Do not forget that Velcom USSD requests have one more feature. And it applies not only to this operator, but to everyone in general. These commands make it possible to enable/disable certain additional service packages and services. What can help us when communicating?

Let's say, the "500 SMS" option package. To do this, you must type *119# from your phone. Please note that the request itself is free. But to connect this or that option you will have to pay according to the tariff. All available settings (Internet and MMS are included here) are received after sending *135*0#, and “Mobile Internet” is activated by the command *135*1#. As you can see, there is nothing difficult about this.

It is also worth paying attention to somewhat non-standard services. Velcom offers its clients a service. Oddly enough, it connects without problems using the USSD request *200*2#. "Melofon" is another service that subscribers often pay attention to. And it is activated through the combination *424#. In principle, these are all quite popular services that you can connect to.

Help and queries

The last point we will consider is sending “homeless people”, as well as receiving reference information on a SIM card. Velcom allows you to do all this using certain USSD commands.

So, for example, anyone can request a call back (send a “homeless person”) for free. Dial *131*friend's number# and send the command for processing. Another Velcom subscriber will receive a free message from you asking you to call back. Sometimes this feature is very useful.

The balance of free SMS, MMS, minutes and Internet traffic also has to be checked from time to time. In this situation, another self-service command will help. It looks like *100*1#. If you want to know the entire list of paid services connected to a mobile number, contact *141*2*2#.

Do not forget that the full list of USSD commands from Velcom is quite diverse. Sometimes you want to quickly scan through it and select the self-service feature you want. Anyone can do this very easily and simply. What does that require? Just submit a special request for processing. It looks like *141*9*1#. In response, you will receive an SMS message in which all available commands will be published. Unless this does not include requests to change the tariff plan (for a specific offer).

As you can see, Velcom USSD commands are varied. And with their help you can fully control the functionality of the SIM card. Don't be afraid to experiment. Remember that when you connect to a particular service, you will be charged a fee in the amount established by the tariff. All reference information is free.

International roaming

Using the International Roaming service, you can make calls, use the Internet, and send messages abroad in the networks of operators with which A1 has entered into appropriate agreements. Your phone number does not change while roaming.

How to activate roaming

The “International Roaming” service is activated free of charge if there is a sufficient prepayment amount (according to the subscriber’s tariff plan).

Subscribers of A1 tariff plans – individuals can activate “International roaming”:

via USSD *141*3*2#
in your personal account at my.a1.by (after registration);
by calling the Automated Subscriber Service 411-3-2-2 (in the area of reliable reception of the A1 network);
by access code when calling the reference and information service (if the service is available);
upon application at A1 company centers and at the offices of official attorneys upon presentation of an identity document.

*Velcom subscribers who do not have permanent residence in the territory of Belarus can activate the “International Roaming” service only at velcom branded centers or from official agents (dealers) of the company upon presentation of an identification document.

What to do when crossing the border

We recommend turning off your mobile phone before crossing the border with another country and turning it on upon arrival in another country. After crossing the border, you must select a partner operator network.

Network selection can occur either automatically or manually. We recommend that you switch your phone to manual network selection mode and, after crossing the border, select the operator that is suitable for you.
If the network is not found after manual selection, try again or contact your local operator for advice.

Please note that minutes, SMS, MMS, MB included in the subscription fee of your tariff plan, as well as minutes, SMS, MMS, MB included in additional packages in roaming are not consumed. Something to remember!
If you have automatic network selection configured, you will be able to register in the network of the A1 partner operator for roaming while in Belarus. This can happen if the signal from the base station of a foreign operator is strong enough to receive and make calls. As a result, all such calls will be charged at roaming rates.

If your phone has conditional forwarding installed, including to voicemail, then you will pay twice for the forwarded call: as for an incoming and outgoing call at roaming rates.

How to check your balance

Subscribers of A1 tariff plans - individuals can check their personal account balance:

via USSD *100#(if the foreign operator’s network supports USSD);
in your personal account at my.a1.by (provided that the “Personal Account” service is activated);
via SMS*(send SMS with the word Balance or Balans to number 411);
by call* to the reference and information service at the contact center.

How to top up your balance

Subscribers of A1 tariff plans - individuals can top up their balance using:

A1banking for Android and iOS (provided that the application is installed);
Personal account at my.a1.by (menu item “Personal information”, to receive a login and password you must register in advance);
Internet banking;
Internet payment systems by the address ;
Services *(the cost of SMS is paid according to roaming tariffs)
Express payment cards(can be purchased at A1 offices):

- using free USSD *141*4# (if the foreign operator’s network supports USSD).
- using your Personal Account (provided that the service is activated);
- via SMS* with a 14/17-digit card code to the number 411 .

* the cost of outgoing SMS/call is paid according to roaming rates.

Something to remember!
When roaming, SMS confirmation of account replenishment is not guaranteed.

The company writes off funds for communication services provided to the subscriber while roaming as information is received from the foreign operator. Due to this circumstance, the final payment amount may be billed some time after the subscriber has actually used these services (up to 30 days). In this case, a sharp change in the balance of the client’s personal account may be observed. A similar principle of writing off funds for roaming connections is used by most telecom operators.

Internet in roaming

The “International Internet Roaming” service is provided automatically to all subscribers of the company if they have connected services:

"International roaming" + "Mobile Internet" and/or MMS;
SMS roaming + "Mobile Internet" and/or MMS.

To optimize your Internet costs while roaming, use the services Roaming 500 MB or Roaming 1 GB with internet package 500 MB behind 29 rubles or 1GB behind 49 rubles. Read more about the service.

Something to remember!
If the “International Roaming” and MMS services are available, subscribers in roaming have the opportunity to receive/send MMS (“International Internet roaming” is not provided).
If you are you planning use the Internet/MMS in roaming, before traveling outside Belarus, make sure of the following:

When accessing Internet resources, as well as receiving/sending MMS, your phone uses access points corresponding to the connected services;
applications operating in automatic mode (for example, E-mail client) have been switched to “on-demand” mode. To avoid automatic software updates, we recommend disabling the “Data roaming” option in telephones whose operating system allows this;
Shut down your applications and browser gracefully.
In the MMS settings, “Automatic reception” or “Reception always” is disabled and “Manual reception” or “Reception on request” is set. In this case, before downloading the MMS, the telephone will make a request to receive the MMS and only after your confirmation will download it;

If you don't plan use the Internet/MMS in roaming before traveling outside Belarus:

To avoid automatic software updates, we recommend disabling the “Data roaming” option in telephones whose operating system allows this. In the MMS settings, select “Do not receive” in the options, then incoming MMS will not be downloaded by the phone.

Outgoing calls in roaming

To make a call while roaming, dial:

+ – country code – city code – subscriber number;
+ – country code – mobile network code – subscriber number

For example, to call Belarus, you need to dial:

+375 – city code – subscriber number;
+375 – mobile network code – subscriber number.

To make a call from Belarus to A1 number in roaming, dial:

from a fixed network telephone number in national format, for example, 8 029 xxxxxxxx;
from numbers of other mobile operators in Belarus, a number in international or national format, for example, +375 29 xxxxxxxx or 8 029 xxxxxxxx;
from the velcom network a number in 7-digit format (calls to numbers transferred to the velcom network from other operators must be made in national or international format).

You can contact the service department from roaming:
1) by phone +375 29 6 000 150 (the cost of an outgoing call is paid according to the tariffs of the “International Roaming” service);
2) order a call by filling in on the company’s website (the cost of an incoming call is paid according to the tariffs of the “International Roaming” service);
3) through the interactive form of the company’s website by;
4) ask a question through the feedback form in your Personal Account;
5) by contacting consultants on social networks

When you trust a reliable cellular operator while abroad, you don’t want to part with it. It is great that velcom provides such an opportunity to its customers. While on a work trip, on vacation, or traveling, you can stay with your usual subscriber number, but call, write messages, and use the Internet at attractive prices.

Calling another country from home

The “International Calls” service allows you to make calls in comfortable conditions, being:

in Belarus abroad;
in roaming in any direction.

Connecting and disconnecting

With the exception of users of the PRIVET tariff, others, individuals and legal entities, have the right to manage the option. If you need it, connect it, if not necessary, disconnect it.

Standard control methods:

Personal appeal to managers at Velcom sales offices to activate the service. The problem will be solved in two steps:
1. presentation of a civil passport;
2. writing a statement.
Independent activation of the service through the website www.velcom.by in conditions of full mobility.
